JDM Allstars - Dan & Jon hit Top 16 & Top 8

15.03.2008

'The Proving Grounds' was a suitable title for this the first event of the JDM Allstars Triple Crown. Dan, Tom, and Jon made the 6 hour trip from Kent up to Teesside Autodrome, Middlesbrough for this the first event of the 2008 season.

With Tom & Dan already awarded JDM licence's from their performance at the 2007 Night Fight, it was the opportunity for Jon to prove himself and he grabbed it with both hands

Tom suffered mechanical failure and was forced to withdraw from the competition early - he'll be back for the next round.............

Some excellent driving throughout the weekend from Jon, carried on into the qualifying for the main event. He was pitched against experienced Prodrift and EDC Pro license holders and held his own with ease, taking the 9th qualifying spot of the Top 16.

Dan was flying in the 20v Corrolla, and secured the 4th qualifying spot, his skills and car perfectly suited to the greasy conditions.

Both drivers suffered mechanical problem, Jon's brakes failed causing him to retire from the Top 16 and Dan's gearbox broke during his Top 8 battle with Declan Hicks hampering his performance allowing the more experienced Declan to take the win.

Prodrift K-Sport Cup - Tom & Dan reach Top32 & Top8

    10.12.2007

Jon, Dan & Tom travelled took the 10 hour journey from Kent to Rosegreen, Southern Ireland in their stride as they began the first international foray of the Drift Republic team.

The terrible weather conditions (noticed heavily during the force 10 ferry crossing from Fishguard to Rosslare) played their part in making the infamous Rosegreen track live up to its reputation.

Some sterling and consistent driving from Tom & Dan saw them both through to the first 'Top32' to be seen in European drifting. This was a format being tested by the Prodrift Organisation in preparation for 2008.

Tom in the R32 was pitched against the world famous Formula D 'Rookie of the year', D1GP, D1GB and D1USA Licensed - Darren McNamara!!

Despite Tom's best efforts a spin in the 2nd run forced Darren to take evasive action, and then progress through to the Top16.

Dan was having a superb time, putting in high speed entries and managing to maintain momentum in very wet weather he stormed through the Top32, Top16, Top8 and into the Top 4. This is where he day was to end after an uncharacteristic mistake he had a head-on meeting with the infamous Rosegreen wall. He was able to continue but wasn't able to claw back enough points in the 2nd run and was knocked out.

We had a superb time in Ireland - it was my first time judging and I learnt a lot. Thanks to Karl & Graham from Prodrift for making this trip possible and for the hospitality extended to our team by both competitors and spectators.
